I’m writing to express my support for the Northeast Supply Enhancement Project (NESE). NESE is an upgrade of existing energy infrastructure that will provide significant benefits to New Jersey and the region, including greater access to reliable, clean-burning, affordable energy.
NESE will have positive impacts on New Jersey’s regional air quality, including the displacement of the equivalent of 900,000 barrels of heating oil in the first year and the reduction of CO2 emissions by up to 200,000 tons per year. That’s the equivalent of removing nearly 500,000 cars from the road.
The NESE project is expected to support 2,400 jobs in the state and generate approximately $240 million in additional economic activity (GDP) in New Jersey. NESE will create tremendous opportunity for New Jersey union laborers, local businesses and other members of the workforce who depend on infrastructure projects like this to provide for their families.
New Jersey residents and businesses stand to benefit from the NESE project and because of that, I urge all decision makers to approve the necessary permits for this critical project without further delay.
